SPPU Pune University B Tech calculation of SGPA & CGPA is explained here:
SGPA -The performance of a student in a semester is given by the Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA). It is the weighted average of the grade points obtained in all the courses, seminars and projects registered by the student during the semester.
Let us consider that a student has registered for five courses having credits C1, C2, C3, C4, C5 and his / her grade points in those courses are G1, G2, G3, G4, G5 respectively. Then,
SGPA is calculated up to two decimal places by rounding off.
CGPA– Cumulative Grade Point Average: It is the weighted average of the grade points obtained in all the courses (Theory/ oral/ practical/ term work/ presentation) of first semester to eighth semester (third to eighth semester for lateral entry students). It is calculated in the same manner as the SGPA.
For a student passing a failed course or in case of improvement, the earlier grade would be replaced by the new grade in calculation of the SGPA and CGPA.
All the above rules are subject to the change from time to time.
