IN 1963 under the aegis of United Nations Development Project (UNDP) and International Labour Organisation (ILO). By The Government of India was established, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), The main purpose behind its set up was to enhance the productivity of various industries across the country through the supply of trained and efficient manpower.
India’s industry professionals, This Institute teaches materials management, work studies, inventory control, shop floor management and personnel management . Today, the institute is counted as one of the leading management education providers in the country. Every year, nearly 2000 professionals enroll in its various programmes.
However, imparting education is not the sole task carried out by NITIE. The institute also provides industrial consultancy and publishes a quarterly magazine named UDYOG PRAGATI: The Journal for Practising, comprising of articles pertaining to the developments in the field of industrial engineeringbesides it.

NITIE – Fees Strucure
Fee Structure of Post-graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE) :
The students are required to pay the following fees once their selection to the programme is confirmed. every student can be paid fee in two installments. However, the sponsored candidates are required to submit the entire course fee at the time of admission only or a day before.

Assistantship
NITIE provides a teaching assistanceship of Rs 5000 to PGDIE students. For availing the teaching assistantship, a student has to devote 8-10 hours per week for the work related to teaching and research activities. The work would be assigned by the institute. Besides, a student is also provided with a contingency grant of Rs 5000 per annum by the institute.
To continue availing the teaching assistantship, a student has to secure a first class or equivalent CGPA/Grade during the first semester and the second semester examinations.
Scholarship
Doctoral Programme :
From The Institute The Government of India (GOI) Scholarship is available to students pursuing doctoral programme. Those who are engineering post graduate are eligible for Rs.5600 p.m. for the first 2 years and Rs. 6,400 p.m for the next 2 years. The non-engineering post graduates are provided the scholarship of Rs.5000 p.m. for the first 2 years and Rs. 6,400 p.m for the next 2 years.
Industry sponsored candidates with minimum of two years working experience at executive level is required.

Postgraduate Programs in NITIE
The courses offered at NITIE are described below:
(I) Post-Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE) :
Eligibility : IN GATE exam who have passed their graduation in first division and have atleast 85 percentile score, The PGDIE programme is open to only those engineering graduates.
Selection Process : The selection is done on the basis of GATE score, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
(II) Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Management (PGDIM) :
Eligibility : In PGDIM programme those candidates interested need to possess a bachelors’ degree with first division (5% concession on First Division % marks for SC/ST/PD candidates). June 30 of the year last date of the admission for students. The final year students are also eligible to apply but they have to complete their examination, viva-voce etc. (except final results). Moreover, they need to submit the final year mark-sheet and provisional certificate by September 30 of the year of admission.
Selection Process : The admission to the PGDIM is done on the basis of marks scored by a candidate in. The scholastic achievements and work experience of the candidate is also counted while making a selection.
(III) Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial safety and Environmental Management (PGDISEM) :
Eligibility : The candidates interested in pursuing PGDISEM must have a first class Bachelor’s Degree in any branch of Engineering/Technology or its equivalent (5% concession on First Division % marks for SC/ST/PD candidates). The admission to the programme is also open to the students appearing for final degree examination. However, for seeking admission they need to fulfill the two conditions laid down by the institute.
Firstly, they have to complete their examination, viva-voce etc. (except final results) by June 30 of the year of admission.
Secondly, they must submit the final year mark-sheet and provisional certificate by September 30 of the year of admission.
Selection process : The candidates are selected to the programme on the basis of Common AdmissionTest (CAT) score and the marks achieved by a candidate in Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
(IV) Fellow (Doctoral) Programme (FP)s
Eligibility :
For pursuing Doctoral program a candidate need to hold a first class Master’s Degree in Engineering / Science / Business Management or Administration / Commerce / Social Sciences / Humanities (with minimum first class). The candidates should have earned their course credits by undergoing full-time course work or passed the National Eligibility Test (NET) or recognized equivalent examination.
Selection Process : A candidate is selected to the doctoral programme on the basis of
- Academic qualifications and experience
- Seminar on selected areas of research and
- Interview
Management Development Program (MDP)
MDP helps practicing managers in shifting their standpoint about business. It is one of the many criterion through which the industry payback from faculty’s rich experience.
Unit Based Program (UBP)
UBP are based on the viewpoint that every business is unique with its specific needs and requirements. These programs are customized learning experiences for fulfilling special needs.
