Metallurgical Engineering Course

Metallurgical Engineering includes the scientific study of metals and its uses. Metallurgical Engineering  deals with all sorts of metal-related areas. Metallurgical Engineering consists of  physical metallurgy, extractive metallurgy, and mineral processing.  In Physical metallurgy we deals with developing the metallic alloys needed for different types of manufacturing and construction. in Extractive metallurgy we extract metal from ore and in Mineral processing we are collecting mineral products from the earth’s crust.

The duration of the course  is 4 years, covering theory and practical subjects in the areas of Extraction of Metals, Alloying, Processing and Treatment of Metallic Alloys and Nonmetallic Materials, Selection and Applications of Metals and Materials.

In Metallurgy Engineering we study following:
• Welding metallurgy
• Basic Hydrometallurgy
• Refractory materials
• Basic Physical Metallurgy
• Mechanical metallurgy
• Corrosion
• Flotation
• Electrometallurgy
• Literature survey
• Metallurgical analysis
• Minerals processing
• Physical metallurgy
• Pyrometallurgy
• Basic Pyrometallurgy
• Heat treatment of steels
• Hydrometallurgy

Metallurgical Engineering Career

Metallurgical Engineer are employed in rolling mills, foundries, heat treatment plants,  research laboratories,  metal extracting plants.
