MCU Calculation of SGPA and CGPA

Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) is given by Total Crédit Points obtained in the Semester (divided by) Total Credits in the Semester

SGPA = ∑CiGi/∑Ci  i = 1 to n

Where n = number of courses the student registered in the semester,

‘C’= number of credits allotted to each of the courses, and

‘G’ = grade-point obtained by the student in the respective courses.

Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is given by Number of Credit points obtained in all semesters put together (divided by) Number of Credits in all the semesters put together

 (CGPA) will be computed for every student for final result

CGPA = ∑CiGi/∑Ci i = 1 to m

Where ‘m’ = number of subjects registered for in all the semesters

‘C’ = number of credits allotted to each of the courses, and

‘G’ = grade-point obtained by the student in the respective courses.

MCU how to calculate (Calculator) SGPA and CGPA

Example is given below
SGPA Example

Semester 1

Course/ Subject Credits Grade Points

(GP)

Weighted Grade Points (WGP)
Paper 1 3 7 21
Paper 2 4 8 32
Paper 3 4 7 28
Paper 4 3 7 21
Paper 5 2 6 12
Paper 6 2 6 12
18 126

Total WGP = 126

Total Credits= 18

Semester 1 SGPA= Total WGP/ Total credits = 126/18 = 7

Sem 1 SGPA = 7

Similarly SGPA of other sem can be found.
