KL UNIVERSITY (KLU) Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) scheme rules and regulations 2015 – 2016 for B.Tech. Courses: K L University, officially the Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation, Vaddeswaram Guntur, Andhra Pradesh has announced CBCS grading system rules and regulations 2015 – 2016 for B.Tech. Courses.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION
Following are the eligibility criteria for admission in B.Tech. Courses:
1. Students are required to have passed 12th class with minimum of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. For B.Tech. Course in Bio Technology, the students who have passed with minimum of 60% or equivalent CGPA in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry are also eligible.
2. Students should have secured a qualifying rank in KLUEEE (or) EAMCET (or) JEE (Mains).

KL University B.Tech. Course Structure

Every Course will consist of specific Lecture-Tutorial-Practical (L-T-P) Schedule. Lecture of one hour / week / semester each of any subject is assigned one credit. Tutorials / Practical of two hours / week / semester each of any subjects is assigned one credit. The under graduate programme in B.Tech. will have a minimum period of four academic years (8 semesters).

B.Tech. Registration

For every course, the student has to undertake the registration process.
KL University shall not permit registration after the fifth working day from the scheduled date of commencement of classes.

KLU Credits: Students can register for a maximum of 26 credits in a semester of their choice.

KL UNIVERSITY Evaluation

Every subject / course (theory / practical / UG major project) will be evaluated as given below:

a) The evaluation process should be continuous throughout the semester CIE (Continuous Internal Evaluation)
b) The maximum distribution of marks for In-Semester evaluation must not exceed 50% of aggregate marks of the course.
d) The minimum weightage for (SEE) Semester End Examination is 50% of the aggregate marks

e) At the beginning of the semester, the course coordinator will announce the distribution of weightage for various evaluation components through the course handout after approval by the Dean Academic

1) CIE (Continuous Internal Evaluation): max. weightage 50% of aggregate marks of the course.
2) SEE (Semester End-Examination): min. weightage 50% of aggregate marks of the course.

KL University Grading System

At the end of all evaluation components based on the performance of the student, each student is awarded based on absolute grading system:

F Grade: A student gets failed if he / she scores less than 40% of overall score and 40% in the semester end examination. The student should get independently 40% in both theory and lab components else treated as failed in both. A student who are failed will be required to reappear for all the components of Semester End examination. Thus KL University passing marks are 40%.
Audit / Certificate courses are graded as satisfactory or non-satisfactory only.

KL UNIVERSITY ATTENDANCE RULES

A student has to acquire a minimum of 75% of attendance in all the subjects/ Courses.

Shortage of attendance up to 10% (65% and above, and below 75%) in each semester may be condoned on genuine and valid grounds, submission of medical certificates, medical case file and other needful documents to the concerned departments.

Shortage of attendance up to a maximum of 10% may be condoned if the student represents the University / State / Country in any Extra / Co-curricular activities.

However, Shortage of attendance below 65% shall in no case be condoned and student shall get detained.
For any course, not more than 5% marks can be allotted for attendance as given below:

KLU Detention policy / rules

The students are liable to be detained in any course if not fulfilled following conditions:
1. The student has to maintain a minimum of 75% attendance and
2. The student must secure a minimum of 40% marks in In-Semester Examinations
The attendance may be condoned as given above

BACKLOG COURSES

If the student has got ‘F’ grade in a course, the course is considered to be a backlog.
The student is required to re-appear for all components of semester end examinations in that course. The student is required to complete such a course in a maximum of four (4) consecutive attempts, else he will have to re-register for that course or a substitute course.

KL UNIVERSITY CONVERSION OF GRADES INTO PERCENTAGE

Students can find percentage from grades using following formula:
[CGPA Earned ] x 10 – 7.5 = Percentage of marks scored.
Example: [CGPA Earned 8.2]x 10 – 7.5 = 74.5%

  1. so if hypothetically if a student gets a CGPA of 10 then his percentage will be only 92.5% ((10*10)-7.5) how is that possible.
