JNTUA CEP Engineering College Academic Regulations 2015 (R15) for B. Tech Applicable for the students admitted in the Academic Year 2015-2016

JNTUA CEP Distribution and Weightage of Marks (Internal & External)

The performance of a student in each semester shall be evaluated subject-wise as follows:
Theory 100 marks:
30 marks for Internal Evaluation: Award of internal evaluation marks
30 marks – 2 Mid term examination (Final Internal marks for a total of 30 marks shall be arrived at by considering 80% weightage to the better internal exam and 20% to the other.)
For the subject having design and / or drawing, such as Engineering Drawing, Machine Drawing and Estimation, 15 marks for day-to-day work
15 marks for 02 midterm test (considering 80% weightage to the better internal exam and 20% to the other)
70 marks for the External Evaluation

Practical 75 marks
25 marks for Internal Evaluation – Day-to-day work in the laboratory shall be evaluated.
50 marks for the External Evaluation

Project work 200 marks, Project marks are subdivided as follows:
60 marks for Internal Evaluation
140 marks for the End Semester Examination (Viva-voce)

Comprehensive examination for the award of 01 credit: Two Comprehensive Objective Type Examinations, one each with 60 objective questions for 60 marks shall be conducted at the end of 2nd year and 3rd year. The duration of the examination would be for 2 hours. A
student shall get 01 credit, only when he/she secures 40% or more marks in the examination. If a student fails in comprehensive examination, he/she shall reappear for the examination.

JNTUA CEP B Tech. Attendance Rules

The student is required to have atleast 75% of attendance in aggregate of all the subjects in a semester, otherwise he will not be allowed to appear for end examinations.
Condonation of shortage of attendance in aggregate up to 10% in each semester may be allowed by the College Academic Committee. Shortage of Attendance below 65% in aggregate shall not be condoned.
A student will not be promoted to the next semester unless he satisfies the attendance requirements of the present semester, as applicable. They may seek readmission for that semester when offered next.

Award of B.Tech. Degree

JNTUA CEP student shall be eligible for the award of the B.Tech. degree if following academic requirements are fulfilled:
i. Students shall complete a course of study in minimum 04 academic years and in maximum 08 academic years (10 years for Gap-year student).
ii. Regular entry students shall register 182 credits and secure 176 credits.

Completing the course of study shall mean passing of all the subjects and acquiring required number of credits within the respective stipulated period along with satisfying the attendance requirements.

JNTUA CEP Promotion Rules

Minimum Academic Requirements

The following academic requirements have to be satisfied:
i. A student should secure minimum 35% of marks in the end examination and a minimum of 40% of marks in the sum total of the internal evaluation and end examination taken together. However, in the case of laboratory, he/she should secure minimum 40% of marks in the end examination.
ii. A student shall get promotion from 2nd to 3rd year only if he/she secure 40% credits of the subjects that have been studied up to 2nd year I semester from
a. One regular and one supplementary examinations of I year I & II semesters.
b.One regular and one supplementary examination of I year II semester.
c. One regular examination of II year I semester

iii. A student shall be promoted from 3rd year to 4th year only if he secure 40% credits of the subjects that have been studied upto 3rd year
I semester from the following examinations,
a. Two regular and two supplementary examinations of I year I & II semester.
b. Two regular and one supplementary examinations of II year I semester.
c. One regular and one supplementary examinations of II year II semester.
d. One regular examination of III year I semester

The following academic requirements have to be satisfied:
i. A student shall be required to secure not less than 35% of marks in the end examination and a minimum of 40% of marks in the sum total of the internal evaluation and end examination taken together.
ii. A student shall be promoted from III to IV year only if he/she secure 40% credits of the subjects that have been studied up to III year I semester from
a. Two regular and one supplementary examinations of II year I semester
b.One regular and one supplementary examination of II year II semester.
c. One regular examination of III year I semester

JNTUA CEP Choice Based Credit System CBCS Marks Distribution

The grades to be used and their grade points are as under :

Gap – Year

Gap Year – JNTUA CEP students who want to pursue entrepreneurship are allowed to take a break of one year at any time after 2nd year to pursue entrepreneurship full time. This period may be increased to two years at the most and these two years would not be counted for the maximum time for graduation.
