Credits

It is a weightage given to a subject paper based on number of hours assigned to a course/subject in a semester.

Grade Letter 

The performance of a student in a subject based on percentage of actual marks secured by a student in a subject.

Grade Point

 each grade letter is allotted a number from 0 to 10

Credit points

Grade point X Credits of a subject

Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA)

gives the performance of a student in a Semester.

It is given by Total Crédit Points obtained in the Semester (divided by) Total Credits in the Semester

SGPA = ∑CiGPi/∑Ci  i = 1 to n

Where n = number of courses the student registered in the semester,

‘C’= number of credits allotted to each of the courses, and

‘GP’ = grade-point obtained by the student in the respective courses.

Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)

indicates the performance of a student in all Semesters.

It is given by Number of Credit points obtained in all semesters put together (divided by) Number of Credits in all the semesters put together

The final result at the end of all the semesters is declared in the form of CGPA

 (CGPA) will be computed for every student after he/she has secured 228 credits

CGPA = ∑CiGPi/∑Ci i = 1 to m

Where ‘m’ = number of subjects registered for in all the semesters

‘C’ = number of credits allotted to each of the courses, and

‘GP’ = grade-point obtained by the student in the respective courses.

SGPA Example

Semester 1

Total WGP = 214

Total Credits= 30

Semester 1 SGPA= Total WGP/ Total credits = 214/30 = 7.13

Sem 1 SGPA = 7.13
