Jiwaji University UG PG grading system for UTDs

Regulations for Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and Continuous Assessment System for all Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree courses of University Teaching Departments.

Programmes offered

All Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree courses

Scheme of Instructions 

The minimum duration of a programme shall be as per the guidelines of the UGC. The maximum duration of a PG programme shall be 01 year additional and that of a UG programme shall be 02 years additional to the prescribed duration of the programme

Evaluation

Each course including laboratory will be assessed for 100 marks, out of which

40% marks for internal continuous assessment

60% marks for end semester exam

 In case of Field /Project  work/Training/ Assignment/ Seminar/ Comprehensive viva based courses will be assessed out of 100 marks.

During the semester, a teacher conducts three tests of 20 marks each. Of these, two must be written tests and the third may be written test / Quiz / Seminar/ Assignment for theoretical courses. Marks obtained in two best tests out of three will be awarded to the student. In each course, there shall be End Semester Exam. of 60 marks. Each student is required to appear in at least two tests and End Semester Examination; otherwise, the student will be awarded Ab Grade in that course.

Attendance

Requirement of attendance will be as per the guidelines of the statutory body

Pass Marks

The minimum passing marks in each component of various courses including theory papers, internal assessment, practical, assignment, seminar and comprehensive viva examination will be 35%.

Award of Division 

3.5 ≤ CGPA < 5 Pass

5 ≤ CGPA < 6 Second Class

6.0 ≤ CGPA < 7.5 First Class

7.5 ≤ CGPA < 10 First Class with Distinction

In case of B.Pharm./ M.Pharm. programmes first division will be awarded if the student obtains CGPA of 6.50 or above in first attempt. No pass division will be awarded.

Jiwaji University Promotion Rules for UTDs

The student will be promoted to the next semester if he/ she secures at least 12 valid credits in a semester. In case the student secures less than 12 valid credits in any semester, then the student will have to repeat the entire semester. This semester will be treated as zero semester

B.E./ B.Pharm programmes the students will be promoted as per following conditions:  

The student should not carry more than 5 courses (combining theory and practical) in 1st year, 2nd year or 3rd year to be promoted to the next year.  

The student cannot be promoted to 3rd year, if he/ she carries any course of 1st year with F or Ab grade.  The student cannot be promoted to 4th year, if he/she carries any course of IInd year with F or Ab grade.

Repetition of a theory / practical course is allowed only to those candidates who get F or Ab in the course
