Regulations for CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM (CBCS)  for BSc degree course applicable from batch 2011-12

Credits

Credit is a weightage given to a paper/ course depending on number of hours given for a course/paper in a semester.

Grade Letter 

Grade Letter is a measure of performance of a student in a paper depending on percentage of actual marks secured by a student in a paper. 

Grade Point

 It is a number from 0 to 10 allotted to grade letter

Grade point multiplied by Credits of a subject

Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA)

Is a performance of a student in ith semester

Formulae for calculating SGPA

Where

‘Ci ‘ is the Credit earned for the Course i in any semester ; 

‘Gi’ is the Grade Point obtained by the student for the Course 

i and ‘n’ is the number of Courses passed in that semester.

Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)

Is a measure of the performance of a student in all Semesters.

CGPA = SGPA of all the Courses starting from the first semester to the current semester. 

Note: (1) The SGPA and CGPA shall be calculated separately for the following three parts: 

Part I: ECs; 

Part II: FCs and 

Part III CCs, SECs. 

(2) The SGPA and CGPA shall be calculated only when the student has successfully cleared all the courses.
