BBAU Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for UG programs

BBAU Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for UG programs is applicable from 2015. The main features of the grading system of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (Central University), Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.are given below:

CBCS

In Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) every student can earn the required number of credits by using their choice both in terms of pace and sequence of courses.

ACADEMIC YEAR

The academic year is divided into 02 semesters and each semester normally should have 90 working days.

Credits

Each course shall be given a credit:

  • One credit is assigned to one hour of lecture/ tutorial per week
  • One credit is assigned to 2 hours of academic work per week in practical work/ field work.

Credit points: Number of credits x  grade point

Grade Point:  Number assigned to a letter grade from 1 to 10

Maximum program duration and minimum credit requirements

BBAU SCHEME OF ASSESSMENT

The assessment scheme consists of two parts:  Sessional (continuous assessment) and end semester examination.

SESSIONAL (CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT)

Every student will be awarded Sessional Continuous assessment (CA) marks for Theory, Practical, Part-semester Project and Full-semester Projects. The continuous assessment is based on the sessional work which includes class tests, Internal examinations,  seminars, homework, assignments, term paper, course-related projects, etc.

END SEMESTER EXAMINATION

There will be End Semester examination for all the courses registered in a particular semester.

BBAU DISTRIBUTION OF MARKS

  • Sessional Continuous Assessment – 30
  • End semester examination – 70
  • Total – 100

BBAU Grading System

On completion of the semester letter grades are awarded to the student based on their total performance. These letter grades give the quality of performance and also associated with grade points.
