BANGALORE UNIVERSITY BU UG CBCS GRADING SYSTEM ARTS SCIENCE COMMERCE:

Following are the rules and regulations for the Choice Based Credit System in the Undergraduate and Integrated Masters Degree Programmes in the Faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce effective from the academic year 2014-15.

DURATION OF THE PROGRAMMES, REQIUREMENTS AND OPTIONS:
For the regular Bachelor Degree durations of the undergraduate programmes shall be of three academic years or six semesters.
Duration of the Integrated Masters Degree Programmes shall be of five academic years or ten semesters.
Each semester shall be of min. 16 weeks of study with a minimum of 90 working days (time spent for the conduct of final examination of each semester is not included). The max. duration is twice the number of years of the programme.

In order to get degree the candidates shall earn min. credits:
The candidate should earn min. 100 credits for the award of the Regular Bachelor Degree.
The candidate should earn min. 200 credits for the award of the Integrated Masters Degree.

Exit options
1. The candidate may exit after four semesters of the undergraduate programme with Advance Diploma with at least 60 credits. Such candidates can rejoin the programme within ten years to complete the degree.
2. The candidate may exit after six semesters of the Integrated Masters degree programme with the award of Bachelor degrees.

BU UG INTERNAL ASSESSMENT:
Total marks for each course is divided in two parts 1) continuous internal assessments (30%) and 2)end term examinations (70%).
Total Marks for each course = 100%
Continuous assessment (C1) = 15% marks
Continuous assessment (C2) = 15% marks
Semester End Examination (C3) = 70% marks.

From the above table bangalore university distinction percentage is 70% and more (Alpha sign grade = A).

BANGALORE UNIVERSITY MINIMUM MARKS FOR PASSING:

Following are the Bangalore University minimum passing marks for B.A., B.S.W., B.Sc., M.Sc.(Integrated), B.C.A., BASLP, B.Com., B.B.A., B.M.S. / B.B.S. and M.M.S. / M.B.S. (Integrated) Programs.
The candidate should secure min. 35% marks in written examination / practical examination and 40% marks in the aggregate of written / practical examination and internal assessment put together in each of the subjects. The candidate should secure 40% marks (including IA) in Project work & viva. Thus, passing marks out of 100 in bangalore university are 40 (IA + End Sem). While, passing marks out of 70 (end sem only) in bangalore university are 35% i.e. 70×0.35= 24.5 means 25 marks.
If a candidate fails in a subject, he/she shall be allowed to appear for that subject only at any subsequent regular examination.

CARRY OVER
A candidate who fails in a lower semester examination may go to the higher semester examination.

RANK
For getting a Rank it is compulsory that the candidates should have passed all the semester examinations in the first attempts in Three / Five Academic Years or Six / Ten Semesters. They should secure above 60% marks or at least an Alpha-Sign Grade B+.

BANGALORE UNIVERSITY REJECTION OF RESULTS

Result of the whole examination of any semester can be rejected by a candidate. Candidate can not reject paper-wise / subject-wise. The candidate who has rejected the result shall appear for the immediately following examination.
The candidate can reject the result only once in each semester and the rejection once exercised shall not be revoked.
Application for rejection of results shall be submitted to the Registrar (Evaluation) through the College of study. Enclose prescribed fee deposition receipt and the original statement of marks. Application should be made within 30 days from the date of publication of the result.
A candidate who rejects the result is eligible for only class and not for ranking.

  1. Hi sir .I got 16 marks in theory and 30 for internals .Is it considered as pass in 5th sem results ? Please let me know

    In first semester EPH subject theory i have secured 36 and internal I have got 0. When I checked in the system copy from Bangalore University side it shows as passed. Is this considered as pass ?
