Acharya Nagarjuna University SGPA and CGPA for engineering program are calculated as follows:
Letter Grade: It is an index of the performance of students in a said course. Grades are denoted
by letters O, A+, A, B+, B, C, P and F.
Grade Point: It is a numerical weight allotted to each letter grade on a 10-point scale.
Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA): It is the ratio of sum of the product of the number of
credits with the grade points scored by a student.
SGPA = Σ (Ci × Gi)/ Σ Ci
Where, Ci = credits of the ith subject and Gi = grade point scored by the student in the ith course.
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA): It is computed by taking
into account all the courses undergone by a student over all the semesters of a program.
CGPA = Σ (Ci × Si)/ Σ Ci
Where ‘Si’= SGPA of the ith semester and Ci = total number of credits in ith semester.
SGPA and CGPA shall be rounded off to 2 decimal points.
While computing the SGPA and CGPA the subjects in which the student has got Zero grade points will also be included.
