This year IISC has done some changes in eligibility criteria. These changes are explained at appropriate place.
KVPY means "Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana". This is a fellowship program, objective of which is to encourage the research careers in Science and growth of scientific minds. This initiative was started by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. The aim of KVPY 2017 is to identify and encourage talented and motivated students to pursue career in research. KVPY offers Generous fellowship and contingency grant to the selected KVPY fellows up to the pre Ph.D. level or 5 years whichever is earlier.
Students are selected from those studying in 11th standard to 1st year of any undergraduate Program in Basic Sciences. The courses considered are B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. IISc, Bengluru is to shortlist the applications and thereafter conduct an aptitude test at various exam centres in the country. On the basis of performance in the aptitude test, students are short-listed for an interview. On the basis of performance in the aptitude test and interview students are selected for the grant of fellowship.
KVPY Fellowship advertisement is published in all the national newspapers every year, usually on the Technology Day (May 11) and the Second Sunday of July.

1. Students of Indian nationlity are selected to study in India only.Hon'ble High Court of Karnataka has allowed OCI/PIO students to write the KVPY Aptitude Test 2017.

M.Sc./M.S. and secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects (Physics /Chemistry /Biology/ Mathematics) in the 12th Standard. Also, students in the 1st year of graduate examination must secure 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks.
