NET is conducted for the award of JRF(Junior Research Fellowship) and Eligibility
for Assistant Professor.This Test is conducted twice in a year in the month
of July and January. National Eligibility Test (NET) 2017 is being conducted
by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). As per the notification issued
by CBSE, UGC NET 2017 will be held on 22 January 2017. The Test is conducted
in Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Forensic Science, Environmental
Sciences, Computer Science and Applications and Electronic Science.
UGC-CSIR NET is conducted by The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) for other Science subjects, namely, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Earth Atmospheric Ocean & Planetary Sciences jointly with the UGC.
Candidate should clearly specify in the UGC NET Application Form whether they are applying for both JRF & Eligibility for Assistant Professor OR only for eligibility for Assistant Professor. The candidates qualifying exclusively for Assistant Professor will not be considered for the award of JRF. Candidates who qualify the Test for eligibility for Assistant Professor will be governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor of the concerned universities/colleges/state governments, as the case may be.
